We all have different definitions of success, both personal and professional. For me, a successful life is one where I can find happiness, health and harmony every day. Consistently choosing to prioritise these things in my daily life is pivotal, and allows me to feel my own version of success.
Being Happy
Choosing an optimistic outlook on life and practising positive thinking
When you visualise a positive future, you can increase your feelings of wellbeing. It may be simple, but focusing on good things really can make you happier. Happiness can also be described as the emotional resilience that is discovered through improving self-awareness.
Being Healthy
Achieving physical vitality and stamina through a healthy lifestyle
When you prioritise a healthy lifestyle, exercise and nutrition are key. Consistent physical activity or an exercise routine keeps the body strong, while also maintaining dopamine levels – giving you feelings of enjoyment. Then, eating well and choosing good quality foods gives you the energy and nutrition needed to get through the day. When the body and mind are fuelled, daily tasks are easier and you can feel more successful in your achievements.
Finding Harmony
Connecting with community by receiving and contributing to those around you
People with supportive social networks are often happier than those who don’t have a strong connection with others. This can be fostered by being involved with sporting teams or groups like book clubs. Volunteering and giving to those in need has also been shown to increase our own personal happiness.
Finding success, either through happiness, health and harmony, or through your own definitions, requires conscious choice and changes to your daily actions and thinking.
