Strengths Spotlight: What Sets You Aglow

Knowing your strengths increases your capability to succeed. Knowing how to continuously build those strengths creates an upward cycle. Your strengths will come through for you when it really matters, and you will be able to constantly move from strength to strength, climbing ever-closer to your peak.

Strengths are skills and traits that come naturally to you. When using your strengths, you are in the moment and you don’t even notice you’re using them. You are enthusiastic to put these skills to use and feel excited when you do. You look forward to doing tasks that use your strengths and time passes quickly as you remain completely focused on what you are doing.

I love watching Jamie Oliver’s cooking show in the afternoons, and the way he exclaims: “Look at the colours!” His joy is contagious, with his excitement and passion for food, and it stays with me when I’m in the kitchen myself. Cooking healthy, colourful meals has always been a strength of mine, and time flies while making a dinner that I’m excited about.

Your strengths are abundant, and you can find them in both your personal and professional life. In all areas, it’s easier to play to your strengths, rather than compensate for your weaknesses. Building your strengths grows your success and is an essential foundation for living a life you’re passionate about.

Using your strengths to their full potential allows you to be on the right pathway for you.

So, what differences can you expect to notice when fully utilising your strengths?
– broader focus and perspective
– improved capability to solve problems
– increase in resilience, persistence and flexibility
– counteraction of negative emotions and thinking
– protection of your health and wellbeing

I invite you to do a stocktake of your strengths and think about ways you can grow them, both personally and professionally. What action do you need to take to improve?

Try asking yourself the following questions:
– Do I need to practice something?
– Do I need to research and expand my knowledge?
– Do I need to learn some new skills?
– Do I need any help or support?
– What other resources can I access to improve my strengths?

It’s always wonderful to acknowledge your strengths. Share with me what you excel at by leaving a comment below. I’d love to hear from you!
